Story

Oxford's most central green space needs urgent care and attention. The plan is to create green paths, refurbish the railings, conserve and secure some of the gravestones, and then welcome the public in through a new gateway facing Cornmarket Street.

The completed project will not only give pleasure to visitors to the churchyard but also to the many who come by it on foot and on bicycles, as well as those who alight from buses in the neighbouring streets.

The 950th anniversary of the church falls in October 2024. We intend to complete the project in the summer of this year.

***FUNDRAISING CONCERT RECORDING NOW AVAILABLE***

Our curate, Esther Lay, gave a solo recital with Ian Tindale (piano) and Jakob Lindberg (lute) on 1 June at St Mary Magdalen's in aid of the churchyard project. Please email admin@stmarymagdalenoxford.org.uk if you would like to receive a recording in return for a voluntary donation.

About the charity

The Trust raises funds to support the mission of St Mary Magdalen, a church in the centre of Oxford whose ministry reaches far beyond that city. It is an island of stillness amid the rush of its surroundings, and houses an ever-growing worshipping community in the catholic tradition of Anglicanism.
